The snow. It's really starting to get to me and it's definitely tempering my enthusiasm for getting things done. It's a challenge. But we press on in life, because we must. There's so much going on here behind the scenes, which is why I've been a little sluggish with my posting pace since the start of the New Year.

Last week, I finished up the preliminary round of judging a contest for IACP, which was eye-opening and got me reacquainted with podcasts--a mixed bag, but I came across this one, Gastropod, which is more than worth a listen.

I have already written two pieces for the new Paste food section, edited by the intrepid Sara Bir. If you have known me for a long time, you know that I wrote for Paste back when it was in print and I was a music writer. That feels like a million years ago, but it's sort of a kick to write for it again under slightly different auspices.

I'm working on a piece for Lucky Peach that involves my mom and schnecken. If you know me, and have bugged me for this recipe (Ian Killea, where are you?), sit tight. It will be published in May.

I'm working with Adam Atkinson on my new website, which we are aiming to launch sometime in March.

I have another project I'm working on that I can't yet talk about (don't want to jinx anything)..... stay tuned.

In the meantime I will go back to drinking copious amounts of tea and perpetually wearing scarves indoors until the snow melts, the birds are here (they're starting to come back--have you heard them?), and the house is not drafty.
